What We're Looking For

We are seeking an exceptional Lead Engineer with deep expertise in backend systems and cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of critical backend architecture and infrastructure systems, act as the go-to subject matter expert in these areas, and guide a team of engineers in building scalable, robust platforms. You’ll shape foundational architecture, solve challenging engineering problems, and ensure technical excellence across multiple projects and teams.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Define and drive architectural vision and technical strategy for backend systems and infrastructure
• Lead design and implementation of scalable backend services, distributed systems, and cloud-native infrastructure
• Provide clear architectural guidance to cross-functional stakeholders and drive consensus across engineering teams
• Create reusable technical artifacts that can be leveraged across the company
• Facilitate technical decision-making, presenting tradeoffs and recommending solutions based on sound engineering principles

Engineering Execution

• Write and maintain production-grade backend code that is performant, maintainable, and well-documented
• Own full engineering lifecycle—from design to deployment, observability, and ongoing support
• Champion backend and infrastructure quality, performance, and security
• Lead modernization of infrastructure and help the team adopt industry best practices (e.g., IaC, CI/CD, observability, scalability improvements)
• Optimize system architecture for cost-efficiency and developer productivity

Team and Technical Mentorship

• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across the team
• Set and uphold high standards for code quality, technical design, and operational best practices
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to grow backend and infrastructure expertise across the organization
• Participate in technical hiring and foster a culture of learning, excellence, and ownership
